harlem furniture the room place

Feb 4, 2008 Harlem Furniture complaint |
i bought a sectional with ottoman from the room place in october of 2007. before thanksgiving the matierial of the ottoman had begun to tear form just using it to rest our feet on. i knew when i bought the furniture that it was not the greatest but to tear in the first two months we had it! i called the costumer sevice number and harlem furniture sent someone out to look at it. he took pictures and said, "well i can't fix that." two weeks later they finally called back and said that they would niether replace or refund our $200 for the ottoman because we ,"abused it." how would they know, believe me it was not abused in anyway. i am still working on it but to no avail, no one wants to help me from the company. as a customer i have never been treated as poorly as i have with this company. my advice is simple, don't ever buy harlem furniture's crap.

I bought a Leather coach, love seat chair an ottaman for the Room Place in the Chicago Suburbs and included was a 5 year warrenty.
after 2 years the leather on the coach is wearing off on the seams and the coach is sagging. After inspecting under neath I discovered there was supposed to be a leg in the middle which was never delievered with the furiture. They said they would send one but the damage is done.
As for the wear it isn't covered under the 5 year warrenty. Only if it is cut burned or other damage but now wear.
I live alone with no pets. I bought leather because I thought it would last. Friends of mine that bought one 20 years ago that have 2 kids and 2 dogs. There couch still looks new so why would mine show so much wear in 2 years.
Long story short I will never ever buy from Harlem (the Room Place) ever again.
There furniture is not quality furniture at all.

I recently bought some furniture from The Room Place on May 31, 2008. I asked for it to be delivered on July 1st. The salesman assured me that it wouldnt be a problem for it to be delivered so far in advance. I asked a few times just to make sure. He again assured me that it would be available. I call on June 23, 2008 to see if my order can be delivered earlier...the rep told me that it was on back order and it wouldnt be available until the middle of July. I speak with the store manager and he assured me that he will get an order on Friday June 27 and I will have furniture. I wasn't to sold on his solution, so I call the corporate office in Chicago. I speak with a manager and she informed me that there isnt a shipment going out...I go back in the store the following day and all they could offer me was furniture up to $1000...there wasnt anything that i liked so i setteled for a set...after i left the store i did some more shopping around and found some furniture. I go back to the Room Place to get a refund and they say they aren't going to be able to cut me a check until next Tuesday July 2...i have talked with numerous personnel and they arent trying to meet me half way by any means...Terrible situation...

your the idiot. They make the worst product out there. I bought furniture from Harlem and the recliner chair's arm cushion started to unravel with in a week. The other things started to fall apart. the sofa cushions would slide off. One day my daughter was sitting on the sofa and the cushion slid form under her she hit the floor and had a brain contusion. I called 7 times and a technicians would come out take pictures of the unusable furniture and not once did they fix anything. I hired a lawyer and guess who is calling who. They want to settle. They took a way all the broken furniture and we in in negotiations with them regarding my daughter's medical bills. I don't think they will ever change their deception ways until someone sues and they have to pay big.

ur funny, you ruin ur furniture and expect a refund... learn to be a better scammer... ur not the first to try this bid... just cause u didnt like the ottoman and someone made u get it.. u lost that war, and lost ur money. dont fall for a sales persons pitch, just get what you want... as if the ottoman was bad, if you use the sofa too then it should have worn as fast as the ottoman!!!
